Pile Foundation & Classification of Pile

Pile: The main work of pile is to transfer the load of the structure. Where the ground power capacity is low, the load of the structure through the pile is spread over the bearing capacity level. If the required load carrying capacity is more or if the surface is too large, then the structure that is made is called pile foundation.

Purposes of using pile foundation: Pill is used to increase the load capacity of the soil.

Classification of Concrete pile:

  1. Pre-Cast Concrete pile.
  2. Cast-in-situ pile.

Pre-Cast Concrete pile: In the case of permanent structure, where there is a need for extra weight, pre cast is a concrete pile. This pile is welded away from the workplace and is curved. After the placement of the workplace. A pile is made of round, rectangular, square, octagonal shape. The diameter of the pile ranges from 35 centimeters to 65 centimeters and the length is 4.5 to 30 meters.

Advantages of the pre-cast pile:

  1. This pile can be placed under water.

  3. High-quality piles can be made by skilled masters and can be easily corrected by any errors.
  4. It is very advantageous to increase the length.
  5. Pails rods can be placed in the right place.
  6. A lot of piles can be made at the same time, so the cost is low.
  7. Construction faults can be easily corrected.
  8. It is advantageous to place this pile on the soft and wet ground.

The disadvantage of the pre-cast pile:

  1. The pile may be broken if the pucker does not adopt the time when the sailor is not relieved during the transfer and installation.
  2. The pile cannot be taller than the benefits of transfer work.
  3. It is very difficult to move due to heavyweight.
  4. After the placement, there is some lengthy, which is to be cut off. As a result, excessive labor, time and money are wasted.
  5. During pile placement, the injury results in a weakening of the pile.

Cast-in-situ pile: At the place of the pile, the hole in the ground digs a hole until it is cast, it is called cast in situ pail. In this process, the pile has to be completed the construction work.

Advantages of the cast-in-situ pile:

  1. There is no transportation cost
  2. Due to the depth of the pile and ground level bearing capacity is properly designed.
  3. The pile is constructed according to the actual length, so time, money and construction materials are not wasted.
  4. No need to hit while installing. The result is perfectly built.
  5. No time wasted for the curving.

The disadvantage of the cast-in-situ pile:

  1. Hard to place the rod in placement.
  2. Can not be used underwater.
  3. The newly prepared concrete may be affected by sub-seal water and soil rust.
  4. As the concrete pours from a high place, the quality of work is not good.
  5. During the construction of a casing-less pile, the weakness of the pile becomes so weak that the surrounding dry soil absorbs water from the newly prepared concrete.
